132/11kV Network Feasibility Study for Khoemacau Copper Mine/MMG/
This strategic study is a cornerstone for KCM’s major expansion across its Boseto and Zone 5 sites, encompassing new processing plants, mine box cuts, and advanced cooling systems. A key focus is the integration of large-scale Solar PV to significantly reduce carbon emissions, directly contributing to KCM’s commitment to the 2050 Net Zero Global goals.
Our comprehensive solutions and key deliverables for this vital study include:
- In-depth Load Flow and Short Circuit Analysis, powered by ETAP Simulations, to ensure network stability and safety.
- Comprehensive Network Design and Substation Design Concepts (132kV & 11kV).
- Detailed 132kV & 11kV Overhead Line Design.
- Essential Transformer Sizing and a thorough Protection Coordination Study.
- Robust Earthing & Lightning Protection Design.
- A decisive Techno-Economic Feasibility Report.
This project is expected to reach completion by the end of September 2025.

OBL Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering Design
In parallel, Erudite is delivering a multi-discipline electrical and infrastructure design package for KCM’s expansion areas within the Boseto and Zone 5 mining complex. This execution project involves designing the 11kV Network to power crucial new infrastructure, including the New Filter Press, Backfill Plant, and Remote pump stations.
Key technical deliverables for this extensive package include:
- Establishing Electrical Design Criteria and Equipment Specifications and developing detailed Electrical Loadlists.
- Precision Transformer Sizing.
- Advanced Protection Studies and further ETAP Load Flow & Short Circuit Analyses.
- Crucial MCC (Motor Control Centre) Designs.
- Complete Solar PV System Design for Remote areas, supported by comprehensive PVSyst Reports.
- 23MW Generator Plant Designs, ensuring robust power supply.
- Comprehensive Lighting & Small Power Designs, alongside Earthing & Lightning Protection Designs.
- Specialised Control & Instrumentation Panel Design.
- Strategic Plant Network Architecture.
- Efficient Cable Racking and Routing.
This impactful design package is slated for completion by the end of July 2025.
